Indie Feature: Gridlock Lacquer

As many of you may know, I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and lived there for half my life before moving to New Jersey. If you've never been to Buffalo, you probably only think of the horrendous winters we are known for, but B-Lo natives know that there is so much to love about the land of pizza, wings, and Mighty Taco.

Yeah, food is definitely one of Buffalo's best features. It was in Buffalo that Frank and Theresa Bellissimo opened up their famous Anchor Bar and created the first Buffalo Wings (you're welcome, world).

NOT real Buffalo Wings.

We are also the home of Mighty Taco, a delicious Mexican fast food chain that puts any Taco Bell to shame.

However, Buffalo has a lot more than food to be proud of. Our city boasts some beautiful architecture, we celebrate cultural diversity with festivals throughout the year (Italian Fest, Irish Fest, Dyngus Day!!), and our people are some of the nicest around (I mean, come on; our nickname is the City of Good Neighbors).

Buffalo native Lisa Menchetti has recognized all that the city has to offer, and has decided to honor it by creating her own line of nail polish. Gridlock Lacquer takes traditional and historical Buffalo references and bottles them up into pretty, hand-mixed lacquer for your nails. Some of the polish names include "Beef on Weck", "Loganberry", "The Aud", "Wingin' It", and my personal favorite, "Power Play" (Let's Go Buff-a-lo!).

My aunt went to the Broadway Market before Easter where Gridlock Lacquer had a booth set up to sell their polishes and she picked me up a bottle called "Butter Lamb".

A butter lamb is a lamb shaped butter sculpture that traditionally accompanies Easter dinner for Polish Catholics. Gridlock Lacquer does an excellent job of capturing the perfect yellow color of the butter lamb, as well as throwing in lots of glitter for good measure!

"Butter Lamb" is a beautiful yellow lacquer packed with tons of iridescent glitter that perfectly represents Easter time in Buffalo.

I wasted no time in swatching it:

I usually find it difficult to find a yellow polish that flatters my skin tone, but "Butter Lamb" nails it! The formula is thick but smooth and applied beautifully. And best of all, all Gridlock Lacquer polishes are 3-free!

I am totally in love with the concept of Buffalo themed polishes; what could be better than combining my favorite hobby and my hometown? If Gridlock Lacquer keeps it up, it looks like Buffalo is going to have something else to be proud of.
